This all-star truck lineup covers everything that the modern truck driver may be looking for. To understand the Chevy truck models, first look to the icon of the lineup: the Chevy Silverado 1500.
This full-size truck offers powerful specs, incredible off-road capability, and advanced technology that can handle a lot while being just the right size for everyday maneuverability, such as when you need to get around a packed grocery store parking lot. The Chevy Colorado takes this formula and scales it down into a more agile midsize package; the Chevy Silverado HD models go in the opposite direction, becoming larger and more capable. The Silverado EV, as its name suggests, brings the Silverado 1500 into the all-electric automotive world.
So, if maneuverability is a must, the Colorado is for you. This truck offers two engines, one of which powers the Silverado 1500 as well: the 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This available engine lets the Colorado reach its maximum tow rating of 7,700 pounds.1 As the standard engine in the Silverado 1500, it provides a maximum towing capacity of 9,500 pounds.1
The Chevy Silverado 1500, though, offers an available 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine that delivers 495 pound-feet of torque and achieves the model's maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds.1 The Silverado 1500 also has two V-8s that sit in-between the standard and maximum capabilities.
The Chevy Silverado 2500 HD and Silverado 3500 HD come standard with a 6.6-liter gasoline V-8 and can be fitted with an available 6.6-liter Duramax V-8. The Silverado 2500 HD has a maximum towing capacity of 22,500 pounds,1 while the Silverado 3500 HD has the highest towing capacity of all Chevy truck models: a maximum tow rating of 36,000 pounds.1 Meanwhile, the Chevy Silverado EV has various motor configurations and can achieve a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds on the RST model.1
Payload ratings follow this pattern. The Silverado 1500, for example, sits in the middle of the Chevy truck models family with a maximum payload rating of 2,260 pounds,2 while the Chevy Silverado 3500 HD tops the lineup with a gargantuan 7,234-pound maximum payload capacity.2
Power similarly follows this established pattern but with a twist: The Silverado EV can exceed the Silverado HD models thanks to its available all-electric 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. In comparison, both Silverado HD models have a maximum output of 470 horsepower but do reclaim the crown with 975 pound-feet of available torque.
The Colorado is the most efficient among gasoline-powered models, delivering up to an EPA-estimated 20/24 MPG (City/Highway).3 The Silverado 1500 delivers up to an EPA-estimated 18/22 MPG (City/Highway)4 with gasoline power but will deliver up to an EPA-estimated 23/29 MPG (City/Highway)5 with its Duramax engine.
Heavy-duty trucks, including the Silverado 2500 HD and Silverado 3500 HD, do not receive MPG ratings. The Chevy Silverado EV demolishes the competition by delivering up to an EPA-estimated 450 miles of range.6
Every model in the lineup of new Chevy trucks for sale can be fitted with a Crew Cab, but the Colorado and Silverado EV are limited to this popular interior configuration. The Silverado 1500 and its heavy-duty brothers can offer less interior seating but bigger bed dimensions through their Double Cab and Regular Cab configurations. On the flip side, the Silverado 1500 offers the most bed options, making it the most flexible model to configure.
When you shop new Chevy truck models at our Chevy dealer in Forsyth, GA, you'll notice the WT trim available for most models. This is the "Work Truck" trim and serves as a true workhorse configuration. Other trims, like the LT with its upgraded interior and the ZR2 with its off-road conquering upgrades, are available on all models except for the Silverado EV and Silverado 3500 HD. To discover them all and the features they include, stop by Volume Chevrolet for an informative tour and head out on a test drive of your favorite Chevy truck.

The Chevy Colorado compares quite well to the Silverado models when considering its smaller size. In essence, the Colorado is a Silverado 1500 that has been shrunken down from a full-size truck into a midsize truck. While the Colorado may tow less, it is more fuel efficient and has a lower starting price than the other Chevy truck models.
The available engine options for Chevy trucks include:
While the Chevy Silverado HD models are the best Chevy trucks for towing in terms of outright capability, the Silverado 1500 and its 13,300-pound maximum towing capacity1 is ideal for most people due to the more manageable size. If supreme maneuverability is a must, the Colorado, which can tow up to 7,700 pounds,1 will be the best for you.
